Most novice woodworkers are uncertain as to the tools they will need. Although many enthusiastic beginners purchase every tool they think they’ll ever use, the best advice is to buy only the tools you will need for your first project. This keeps the budget and the learning curve manageable since you will have to master only a few tools at a time.

For example, if you buy only one saw, one plane, and one chisel, you will learn how these tools interact and how to use them. You will also save a fair amount of money if you happen to discover that woodworking isn't as enjoyable as you thought it would be.
